Now you have reached yellow belt, you have more things to learn and different kumite.
Kihon
Kihon represents the basics or fundamentals. As a yellow belt you will learn:
- Sanbon tsuki – stepping punch, double punch
- Jodan age uki, gyaku tsuki – rising block, reverse punch
- Chudan soto uke, empi uchi– outside block, elbow strike
- Chudan uchi uke, gyaku tsuki – inside block, reverse punch
- Shuto uke – knife hand block
- Mai geri – front snap kick
- Yoko geri keage – side snap kick
- Yoko geri kekomi – side thrust kick
Kumite
Kumite is where you spar with a partner, you will be taught:
- Ippon kumite attacking with jodan oi tsuki and chudan oi tsuki on both sides.
Kata
Kata is a set of fixed moves. With each belt you will learn a new kata. For yellow belt you will learn:
- Heian Sandan
Heian Sandan – Sensei Paul James
Heian Sandan – Sensei Alex Cockx
Once you have trained enough and have reached the required standard you will be able to grade to green belt.
