Now you have reached green belt, you have more things to learn and different kumite.
Kihon
Kihon represents the basics or fundamentals. As a green belt you will learn:
- Sanbon tsuki – stepping punch, double punch
- Jodan age uki, gyaku tsuki , gedan barai– rising block, reverse punch, downward block
- Chudan soto uke, empi uchi, uraken– outside block, elbow strike, back fist
- Chudan uchi uke, kizama tsuki, gyaku tsuki– inside block, double punch
- Shuto uke, nukite – knife hand block, spear hand strike
- Mai geri – front snap kick
- Yoko geri keage – side snap kick
- Yoko geri kekomi – side thrust kick
Kumite
Kumite is where you spar with a partner, you will be taught:
- Ippon kumite attacking with jodan oi tsuki, chudan oi tsuki and mai geri on both sides.
Kata
Kata is a set of fixed moves. With each belt you will learn a new kata. For green belt you will learn:
- Heian Yondan
Heian Yondan – Sensei Paul James
Heian Yondan- Sensei Alex Cockx
Once you have trained enough and have reached the required standard you will be able to grade to purple belt.
